I'm currently a lv. 34 Duelist rank 10 trying to defeat Ga Jiarg and his cohorts in Sylvalum. My defense if 106 while my Melee attck is 185 (ranged attack is only 55). Any tips on how to beat this boss?
My team consists of me, Elma and Lyn.
My current strategy is to use Decoy Round to draw aggro and then use a double recast Rising Blade to deal damage. I have the skills that extend taunt and increase damage to taunted enemies. I can take Ga Jiarg down but then the others finish me off in seconds... :/

i just lost 3 times and lowered the difficulty but other than that try this and make sure you have at least 4000 TP. Offensive Stance - Overdrive - Dualcast Tornado Blade - Triple cast Rising Blade - Spam whatever other arts you have. Tornado blade under offensive stance gives you TP and counts for everyone hit and since its AoE it will do some great damage and raise your overdrive counter by 3 per enemy hit so try too group up as much of the trash as you can. the more tp you have the easier it is to get overdrive back again
also change the title with less spoilers

I'll try this! Thanks! Also, I don't think we ever got the name of that guy, but nevertheless I changed it. Thanks for the heads up.

For starters, you can have 4 party members for this chapter, so throw in another strong character to even the odds. Secondly, the game defaults your target to Ga Jiarg, but you'll want to take him on last because he has the most HP. Switch your target to one of the weaker enemies first and have your allies concentrate fire. Continue until all the lackeys are down and the incoming damage will be much more manageable. As ancientrune said, AoE attacks are great in general for this fight, and you can charge up TP on weaker enemies if you like before starting the battle.
Fair warning, there is a second stage to this fight, but if you have a beefed up level 30 skell it shouldn't be too hard.

And the second fight was even harder than the first imo. Lost my skell twice. :/

Add a fourth member to your squad. I had to do loads more exploring, treasure hunting and getting my collectapedia up to speed to raise my battle points to spend on arts and skills. Spend your miranium on augments for your weapons and armour. You will gradually see yourself getting stronger and closer to beating him until eventually he'll die
