With 2015 almost to a close... Many ask just went wrong this year regarding Nintendo.... Even the most dedicated fans are disappointed, including myself. We did have a couple of games that are really amazing, but they were pretty sparse this year.
Here are my thoughts on this year
We started out this year, pretty 3DS Oriented, but still pretty slow.
During First Quarter, we had the release of the New 3DS, which was quite exciting! This came along with the much anticipated release of MM3D and MH4. That really is good! We then ended off with Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for 3DS, a much needed port for what was dubbed the greatest RPG of last gen. We also had CODENAME STEAM, a very underrated title, but I liked it.
3DS was looking fine! I was happily playing my 3DS during this period!
On the Wii U side however...
We got Mario Party 10.... The worst game of the series.
We did get Kirby and The Rainbow Curse, which was good for the type of game it was... But I am not a fan....
Then Nintendo came into the next months running!
Splatoon! One of the best online shooters ever created, that really reinvents the genre...
Then...
....
...
... Absolutely nothing. They stopped...
Nothing to play for the entirety of Summer, besides Splatoon and Smash DLC.... A very poorly made E3 made everyone even angrier.
We then go into Super Mario Maker, a fantastic game that really captures the imagination!
Then... Yoshi's Wooly World, a really good platformer...
Then we got Fatal Frame... Which was pretty good.
On the 3DS side, we got Tri Force Heroes, which was met with mixed reception, so I will leave it at that.
We got nothing else until the Holidays.
Of which we got Amiibo Festival, which should kill itself. The developers should be fired, and slaughtered.
We got Mario Tennis. The worst game in the series.
For 3DS, we got Super Mystery Dungeon. An apparently really great Mystery Dungeon game, that I will pick up soon
Then we got Xenoblade X, one of the best games on Wii U, and it perhaps breaks into my top ten games of all time.
The problem this year... Not enough content. Plus, games were either really really good, or really really bad. That just is bad.... They were riding on having no games this year that people wanted to play. Zelda, Star Fox, and many other games were delayed, and some of the games they put on this year should have been delayed(or cancelled).
My hopes is that they have a lot of content for Wii U's last year. I hope that Star Fox, Zelda U, are going to be as good as we are led to believe.
I hope they actually give us Zelda U information, early next year.
3DS is looking great for 2016, with Bravely Second, FEF, Dragon Quest, ect. As long as they keep stuff up like that running, 3DS will be fine.
Wii U however, really needs some good games. It desperately needs more. It needs a lot less platformers and party games, and more 3D adventure-eque games.
I hope they give the Wii U and their fans a proper sendoff before the NX comes into the picture. Kimishima says that is his top priority, I hope he stays true to his word.
