Anyone download this game yet? As a fan of the series, it's surprisingly fun and content-packed, and for those who've never played FE, it's a nice, simple starting point.

I've tried it! It's probably the most fun mobile game I've ever tried, and I think I'll have tons of fun with it. Drawing random heroes is very addicting too, which is both good and bad.

I agree that spending orbs on pulls (always do 20 at a time, by the way!) is pretty addicting, although I'm gonna play for awhile to see if it has longevity before I drop any real money on it. Any noteworthy summons for you thus far? Also, my friend code (*shudder* why, Nintendo) is 3985096358, so you and anyone else can send me a request whenever you feel like it!

I sent you a friend request! My name is Adam. Yeah, I heard about the 20 at a time trick from another friend. Thanks for the consideration though! Have you gotten any cool heroes yet? Personally my best hero is probably my 4-star Sophia with 18 Atk at level 1! O___O

And my first set of pulls was nothing special (save Niles), but in my second set I got a 5* male Corrin (female version is apparently better but he still hits like a truck), plus a 4* Sakura, whom is my first healer and is already super useful paired with Gunter (whom I also got in my second set). I also got a 3* Setsuna, which is only special because she's one of my favorite characters. She has a couple useful skills too, though.

I haven't gotten it yet but I'm tempted to. I think I might wait until they add more characters that I want to see.

I haven't gotten it yet but I'm tempted to. I think I might wait until they add more characters that I want to see. Of course, it's one of those games where if you wait until they have the characters you want, you're going to miss out on the free daily orbs they send out during the launch month, and it won't be as easy to get those characters that you want... But that's how they get you. I'm a little more familiar with this style of game than most of the people who have been lured into playing it, it seems, and I'll warn you now that after a week or two it's not gonna feel like the same type of game at all that it did when you first started playing. That's the curse of games that have an incentive to keep you playing for as long as possible.
I would also definitely recommend not paying any actual money until you get a sense of what the game really is, probably after at least a month of playing. I know so, so many people who went into games like this all excited and spending money right off the bat, but if you talk to them now they'll say "I didn't realize how terrible the game was. Worst X dollars I ever spent."
I'm sitting on 29 orbs right now, having already gone a 5-summon round at each of the two currently available pools. My main team currently consists of a 5-star Ogma (sword), a 4-star Sakura (healer with attack magic), a 4-star Cordelia (spear, Pegasus), and a 3-star Gunter (axe, cavalry). I don't have a lot of good green options, but I've been trying to train up my 4-star Hana (sword, with Armorslayer) and 4-star Jeorge (bow) for situations when I'll need them.

Yeah, as I've said before, I'm definitely waiting at least a month or so before I consider dropping any money on the game, as I'll know by then if it's something I'll continue playing regularly. And in the meantime, the game at least provides you with enough orbs from the story and launch bonuses that you can play entirely for free and still do several summoning sessions - and that's after spending the 28 orbs needed to max out your castle (which I recommend doing asap).

Socran Hmm... but it's definitely possible to play the game without paying for anything, right? Maybe this isn't the game for me. I still haven't even finished Fates.

It's entirely possible - at least, if you intend to play fairly casually. The option to pay is there, of course, but none of the content itself is locked behind anything other than the level of your units, which can be increased so long as you have the stamina to spend on grinding (which refreshes fairly quickly). Really, the only time you'd ever /need/ to spend money is if you decided you wanted to be more competitive in the arena, which is currently the only mode that you need stacked units to do well in.

But if my experience with games in this "genre" are any indication, it will eventually become the kind of game that you check up on once a day, do whatever "daily" stuff you have, and then just dump your stamina as quickly as possible whenever it gets refilled. All of this amounting to a tiny bit of progress each day. Basically, these are games that try to get you to stick around for months or years at a time, so the seemingly fast pace of the early portion of the game will only last so long. (That said, paying real money doesn't change this fact. You're still running on a treadmill, you're just paying to add a few miles to the counter. If you enjoy this game at all, I honestly don't see the point of paying anything for it except the "excitement" of gambling.)
As Sir Mouse said, it's meant for people to play it "casually" as part of a routine. If you're looking for a game that you can pick up whenever you want and make actual progress based on however long you feel like playing, with no downsides to playing longer and/or less frequently, you might be better off playing the actual Fire Emblem game that you own and haven't finished.

Thanks for the input, you two! Yeah, I think maybe I should try and finish Fates first. I got through Birthright and got burned out. If more characters that I really like show up in Heroes though, I might jump in. Though I know it's not as easy as just getting the game and getting the characters you want hahaha
