• Who is the Divine Architect?
• Why are the Titans suddenly going extinct?
Rex:
• Why did Malos and Jin need Rex to open the door with Addam’s Crest on it?
• What did Malos mean when he said he should’ve been more wary of Rex’s eyes?
Pyra:
• Why was Pyra sealed away in a sunken ship?
• What makes the “Aegis” so special?
• How could Pyra make Rex appear in her “memory simulation” after he died?
• Why do Pyra need to go to Elysium?
Torna:
• Why do Torna need Pyra so badly?
• What was Jin referring to when he said he killed Rex as an act of mercy?
• Why does Malos want to stop Pyra from reaching Elysium?
Nia:
• Why did someone as nice as Nia cooperate with Torna?
500 years ago:
• How does Malos and Pyra know each other from 500 years ago?
Do you have any more questions or ponderings so far?

This is a great idea! I'll be sure to take part in the discussion as soon as I get the game. I think I'll keep a list of mysteries, questions and theories I have throughout my playthrough, so that might be fun to post here later.

So in chapter one we see a big ass ship being lifted by balloons, because f*** physics, impressive cutscenes, and a badass dragon.
Off to a good start storywise. Everything else.........

All right, I finally started the game! I'm not done with chapter 1 yet though. In fact, I'm still at the very beginning. Rex has just been given a mission to salvage something unknown together with three other weird people. I didn't expect those two mysterious men to be introduced all casually like that! And Nia seems cool! EDIT: I finished chapter one. And hoooly moly it was good! The final cutscene with Gramps and the amazing music gave me so many chills. And the story seems VERY interesting too! What did Jin mean when he said he killed Rex as a sort of mercy? And how did Gramps know Jin and whatshisface? And whatshisface seemed to have met Pyra before, 500 years ago! Say whaaat!? So many questions! And why was Pyra in a ship on the seafloor to begin with...?

Been playing 8 hours today now that I finally have it. And I have so many questions that I’m sure will be answered but man is it hype to think about.
I really wasn’t expecting Malos and Jin to know Azurda/Gramps and vice versa. Clearly there’s a lot more going on with Gramps than we thought, and Malos and Jin, well, they’re no ordinary humans by the look of things.
Why was Rex the only one able to open that door? What the deal with the Lefthyrian Archipelago and/or Fonsett? And that thing Malos said about his eyes when they were fighting, and how he should’ve been more careful.
Speaking of, Malos is a grade A asscave and I freaking LOVE his screams when he’s pissed. Looking forward to more of him.
What were those bells that Pyra was hearing, how long was she there, and why?
What exactly was Nia there for? Malos mentioned having her call a Monoceros (XCX indigen?) Did that have to do with killing the other people of the crew?
As for other impressions, well it’s no secret that the final cutscene was jaw-droppingly awesome (at least for me). Insanely great choreography with roles and badass moments from everyone (the way Rex just shot up from the floor like that was so damn cool) and it’s so awesome seeing both Rex and Pyra be able to fight. Their teamwork was way cool, and Pyra’s agility was awesome to watch. Nia and Azurda pulling through at the end was so hype as well.
I already mentioned Malos, but honestly I love every voice I’ve heard so far, Bana being another major favorite. And Pyra’s voice is...interesting. It sounds way different from the way everyone else seems to act their lines, and a little different than how I expected her to sound, but I also love how casually spoken her lines sound...they feel very real. And some of her lines seem to only halfway leave her mouth (not quite voicecrack but if you’ve heard her I think you know what I mean), which makes her seem like she’s seen some s*** or knows some s*** is going to happen. Either way, her voice is quite engaging.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. The cutscenes in this game are phenomenal! I'm actually keeping track of all the questions and mysteries that arise in the story in a Google document. It's gonna be really fun to look back on it and see my thoughts and ideas later. I'll be sure to share stuff here too after every chapter of course.

I'm glad you guys have all these questions that haven't been spoiled. While giving the game a break after my first ~100 hours with it, I've been enjoying watching my wife go through the game and find out these things too. She's nearly to chapter 7 now. Speaking of, Malos is a grade A asscave and I freaking LOVE his screams when he’s pissed. Looking forward to more of him. He's a cocky bastard in a good way for a villain. Are you playing in English or Japanese? I would agree that his English actor suits him well. What exactly was Nia there for? Malos mentioned having her call a Monoceros (XCX indigen?) Did that have to do with killing the other people of the crew? I can tell you the Monoceros is Torna's battleship. Aside from a handful of odd line deliveries throughout the game and some NPCs (including one you'll never forget, if you think you can take him!), I love NoE's work on this just like the brilliant acting in XC1. I tend to opt for Japanese in other games, but the English VA is just right in all three Xenoblades. Pyra's VA did a great job with her tender personality. I think it would seem more cliché in Japanese, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the reply! I always go English when given the option.
And yeah, I know the guy you’re talking about. Let’s just say, I won’t forget him.
And lol does this place seriously censor with asscave? That’s amazing, just amazing.

I finally finished my list of questions and mysteries from chapter one. It turned out to be pretty long, and some of it is just things I personally am curious about rather than something the game explicitly stated as a mystery. It's very fun to try and come up with theories to answer these things. If either Wolfe or Inquisitor want to, they are free to paste this into the first post. I'll be posting updates to this list in all the chapter topics as soon as I'm done with the chapter in question. Chapter 1: • Why did the Divine Architect cast humanity out from Elysium? • Why did the Architect send the Titans to help humanity after casting them out? • Who is the Divine Architect? • Why are the Titans suddenly going extinct? • Why did Malos and Jin need Rex to open the door with Addam’s Crest on it? • What did Malos mean when he said he should’ve been more wary of Rex’s eyes? • Why was Pyra sealed away in a sunken ship? • What makes the “Aegis” so special? • How could Pyra make Rex appear in her “memory simulation” after he died? • Why do Pyra need to go to Elysium? • Why do Torna need Pyra so badly? • What was Jin referring to when he said he killed Rex as an act of mercy? • Why does Malos want to stop Pyra from reaching Elysium? • Why did someone as nice as Nia cooperate with Torna? • How does Malos and Pyra know each other from 500 years ago?
