The Alliance Alive, by FuRyu and published by Atlus (the people that steal from my wallet at every possibility), is a pretty good little JRPG for the 3ds.
(Read: I can and will squee about it, at length, ad nauseum.)
Music by Masashi Hamauzu, squee. I'd play a walking sim with that music. (Wait, I already did! coughLegendofLegacycough)
Lots of characters/formations to build your party, lots of weapons to switch amongst, the stats go up by RNG but you can push them to favor one thing or the other. Some lovely snarky dialogue and also they managed to make me cry because I am stupid and mumblespoilermumble.
I take it all back. Terrible game, 0/10. Sniffle.
I haven't hit credits, so I can't promise that it doesn't have some unspeakable difficulty spike (coughLegendofLegacycough), but so far it is pretty smooth. Enemies match my levels, except when I wander into areas I'm clearly not supposed to be near -- and sometimes I'm pleased to not see game over, although usually I do. I appreciate a game that let's me get into trouble if I chose to be ignore the neon warning signs.
No amnesia or incognito princes so far, but spiky hair, childhood friends, a butler, big swords, and A Quest To Save Everything. Let's go, kids!

Found the spike! A series of linked battles, not chance to rest or restock, ending in a big-bad that wipes me out in one hit. Second try, after a little grinding and remembering to equip a healer (oops), two hits. I'm gonna need a bigger grind.

I know you're the wrong person to ask this, but is the grind in this game fun?

It feels a lot like Bravely Default style grind with a sprinkle of rng --- wander, find an enemy, run through the turn-based combat, hope your party learns something good or levels up in a useful way. Find a spot to rest when you burn through too much hp/mp. You can speed animations x2/x4 and put attacks on auto if you want. I'd call it a good second screen grind if you do that: sports on the tv, putter with this during commercial breaks.
I haven't done much grinding before this. However, if you're not the "let's visit every stinking spot on the map before progressing" kind of person, you would describe it differently. Note: I was gaining arts/levels like crazy at this spike, so I suspect I'm still underleveled.
There are optional islands/dungeons that could work as useful extreme grind points. I think you can also increase/decrease encounters if you choose to develop that world support, but that requires visiting your home base.
Edit: I also need to grind for gold, because the gear also went up in quality and HARD. Sadly, the local rabbits, while capable of killing me, do not drop much cash.

Boy howdy was I underleveled. Got up there, did the thing, and the game gave me a series of new toys/areas/stuff to play with, yay! So much pretty, so many greatswords! That was a fun section to run.
However, it's back to another series of linked battles that are obviously gonna end in a big bad (and one I am itching to take down, he's a creep). And based on how fast my party is improving, I may need a leeetle more grind in my life. Hello! Did someone say "grind"?
Cash remains a continuing limit for this game -- so much good gear, so many enemies that drop only a few coins.
Edit: Little bad is down, and it wasn't as big a deal as I expected, although I admit, I went really slowly. Good news: the money situation is resolving itself, and I have some anti-poison gear finally (poison is OP, same as in Alliance). I am learning the mysteries of chain battles (i.e. my strategy of avoiding really hard things has reached the limits of usefulness).
