I figured it would be cool to share our thoughts on the story up to a certain point somewhere. I love to read what people think.
Keep in mind, no spoilers for anything other than chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I plan on posting a thread for the other chapters as well, so each chapter can have its own discussion, if I'm allowed to. I think it would be sweet to be able to read about how people interpret the story as we all get further and further into the game without having to worry about people posting stuff from chapters we haven't played yet.
Anyway, to kick things off; Here are the main mysteries so far in my opinion:
1. Why did the alien races battle two years ago? 2. Who was the mysterious defender of the White Whale? 3. Why are the Prone so intent on killing humans? 4. Who is Goetia and what is her motivation? 5. Why does the number on the BLADE tower decrease? Answer: To signify the amount of mim fuel left. 6. How are the humans able to understand the languages? 7. What is the Great One that Luxaar is talking about? 8. What is the giant black Mech that we found? 9. What was that thing that Vandham wanted to bring up about Elma in the hangar? 10. Why did the huge flying monster save us from the Tainted?
Do you have any cool questions or ponderings so far?

Why did the giant Telethia save the party from Tatsu's shenanigans? I must know.

Play further through the game of course. xD I already hated Tatsu, but now he has gone from being completely useless to actively hindering the party. Almost got us all killed by the tainted, not to mention nearly getting the avatar killed in the previous chapter. And he dares to call himself a heropon. Lin should just eat him already. Anyway, this chapter was really short for me since I had already explored the area it takes place in (totally called it being plot relevant!) and I was overleveled. Now, to finally get a skell...

Noooo, Tatsu is great! He just wanted to bring bento to the gang. T___T It was cool to see Lin actually protecting him once the Tainted appeared. Really added to her character in my opinion. Love the constant Tatsu jokes though, don't get me wrong. ^^

I really like how this chapter immediately throws you into an intense cutscene and winds up introducing so many characters and mysteries by the time it ends - short as it is.
Of course, it may have felt particularly short to me because I'd already traveled to the location prior (and even killed several of the tainted beforehand, so they didn't scare me, haha) and was thus able to fast-travel to it, but I didn't mind it being mostly cutscenes on account of their being so interesting/entertaining.
If it wasn't clear by how late I am to the discussion, I've been taking the story slow (about 45 hours in now), and although I plan to continue doing so, I can't wait to see what happens next!

Yeah, chapter six was great in terms of introducing new mysteries! Glad you enjoyed it! Also, like you said, it felt pretty long to me since I had to travel to a new place. That boss gave me trouble too. >_<

It felt pretty long to me because I was gunning for my skell license and no one told me that Chapter 6 itself isn't the license test, but the chapter that unlocks the test. The boss was also the second roadblock (after the first Goetia fight) that forced me to freshen up my party's arts, skills, and equipment, so there were a few attempts and some party management involved.

If it wasn't clear by how late I am to the discussion, I've been taking the story slow (about 45 hours in now), and although I plan to continue doing so, I can't wait to see what happens next! This statement made me laugh. 113 hours in and I just finished this chapter. Anyways, onto my thoughts . . . The amount of foreshadowing in this chapter (at least what I think is foreshadowing) is incredible. The part where the Telethia (I'm assuming it's Telethia, the Endbringer) saved us from the Sphinxes reminded me a lot of what happened after the Mechon attack after the Ether Mines in the original game where a Telethia saved the party. I'm also surprised that I've never seen Luxaar before. Not in any previews or trailers or anything. He reminded me of Miqol a bit, except this time he's evil. The part where Luxaar talks about an offer and if they can trust someone makes me think that he's referring to a traitor from NLA making an offer to help the Ganglion. But that' just me speculating. Elma clearly knows more about that black mech that we found than she's letting on. And her face when Vandham was about to tell us about the Ares (I'm assuming the Skell series) was so morbid. It's like she really, really didn't want us to know something. The scene at the beginning with Luxaar and Goetia was also interesting. It seems like they were referencing their battle with whatever the other alien force was over Earth. But it seems more like that they were forced to be where they are, rather than them chasing the humans like we previously thought. Of course, I could be wrong about that, but we'll see. Finally, the introduction to Ga Jiarg and the Wrothian clan. I love their design. But I wonder what happened to make them fall subject to Luxaar and the Ganglion. It didn't seem like that they were totally willing to do Luxaar's biddings. Overall, it was a great build-up chapter. Nothing extremely exciting (although that Telethia scene was absolutely majestic), but it's getting me more interested in what's going to happen next. Now onto getting my Skell license! EDIT: Although I've thoroughly explored Dead Man's Gulch before, for affinity missions and story missions, I always walk to my destinations to make them seem more authentic, even though I could easily skip travel there. It adds to the immersion a lot more.

Still, it's intriguing, isn't it? So many mysteries! One last thing: Luxaar's coversation with Goetia is very important, and I feel like many people forget about it right after it happened. Try to recall what she said to him about a "light". I don't know the exact quote, but it has some very interesting implications later that most people miss.
