i dont know what is wrong with me, i have it but the desire to play it is very low, I just dont think I like it that much. Id rather play the new league in Path of Exile than Zelda

i wish i knew, the things i do know are that i hate the inventory menus and really hate switching weapons when they break, using the right arrow button doesnt feel natural. trying to drop things where you want is a real pain too. I also dont feel that this Hyrule is that interesting especially compared to the Bionis and Mira. It just kinda of whatever. it reminds me more of FFXV than anything.

If anyone has time. Can you check something for me? Get two tree branches. With one, fight Bokoblins until it breaks. Keep track of the number of hits. Next, hit Steppe Tallus (that rock boss from the demo) with the other one. See how many hits it takes before it breaks. I want to know if there's a difference

Next, hit Steppe Tallus (that rock boss from the demo) with the other one. See how many hits it takes before it breaks. I want to know if there's a difference I just tried it, and it broke after four hits on both the Bokoblin and on the Steppe Talus.

So the thing you're hitting doesn't affect the durability. Good to know

So the thing you're hitting doesn't affect the durability. Good to know I could try hitting some other things to further test this, since it might just have been that the Bokoblin and the Steppe Talus have the same "hardness" (though I doubt it). I'll let you know soon.

I'm absolutely in love with this game and I haven't even been playing for that long. Maybe only 6 hours but good god, this is a beautiful game that surprises me at every corner. I'm still at the beginning of the game. The game told me I needed to go to a certain place to advance the story and I basically said "nah" and went in the complete opposite direction. I've run into such a variety of things along the way but I don't want to spoil the surprises, honestly. But at this point, I'm walking through the desert on a horse with no name. (Actually, I just named him Clops. He's a failure of a horse but he's my failure.) Also, sorry you can't seem to get into the game, AncientRune. I really do enjoy the limitations of your inventory as it lends to a survival aspect that really makes things feel dangerous. It makes you play resourcefully (like pushing a rock down a hill to kill an enemy instead of using your sword) instead of something like Xenoblade where you can only take care of obstacles by initiating the battle system. Don't get me wrong, I love Xenoblade but one thing that's different between the two is that in Xenoblade, most of your interactions with the world while exploring are moving across it and using the battle system. I really do love Xenoblade's battle system but in BotW, there's just so much variety and so much that you can interact with. The world is a lot more tangible and alive and I'm shocked to say that after Xenoblade X blew me away over a year ago. But like I said, that's not a knock on Xenoblade. What I'm basically saying is that exploration in Xenoblade is macro (you're covering tons of ground and finding huge amazing places) while in BotW it's micro (you come to an area and there's all sorts of little details that you can play around with) and that's what sets the two apart despite being open world and having some of the same developers on it. So I can see why it might not click for you.

So. What's everyone's favorite weapon type so far? Lance, Axe, Sword, or others that I don't know about?

Lance/spears are my favorite right now. I like the extended reach. Right now, I'm running into a lot of enemies that can wipe me in one hit since I'm pretty much ignoring the plot and going wherever so the extra reach helps me play more carefully.

I finally got a good play session in and behold im finally getting into it, the shield surfing and paraglider made a world of difference, the only thing holding me back now is the OCDness of trying to find every korak
i also put it in tv mode with a pro controller and now the controls are a lot less intrusive
i like spears too, i had the trowing spear and it lasted forever compared to other weapons ive had

Nice to hear it's getting better for you. If you haven't already, try to catch a horse and tame it. Some are easier to tame than others but the tougher ones are usually better.
Since my post, I also got a melee weapon that doubles as a boomerang when you throw it. It's pretty cool.
In my quest to ignore the plot, I've somehow run into a new plot. Either this is a very elaborate side quest or you can do parts of the story out of order. Not gonna say much else though, we should probably leave this thread spoiler free.
