Since it releases tomorrow/today, and I apparently like to torture myself, here's the discussion thread

I can't wait for the game. I'm getting it with the Switch tommorow. I'll probably post my initial thoughts here when I get around to playing it

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for mine. It's in Kentucky right now. Makes me wish I still lived in the north

I got the Wii U version at midnight. For now I'll say it's worth the wait, inquisitor.

This game is really fun. You can definitely see the Monolith influence shine through

Finally sitting down to play it! I can't believe this day has finally come... I'm almost as excited as when XCX was released.

So about those frame drops everyone is talking about. Are you guys seeing that?

So about those frame drops everyone is talking about. Are you guys seeing that? Yeah. I've played for two hours and encountered them three times. Once when a bunch of enemies showed up, once when I walked past a large enemy camp, and once when a lot of fire was rendered at the same time. It lasts for about two seconds. Personally I don't mind them at all.

Two seconds? That's it? That's not bad at all. Not sure what everyone was talking about.

Still a few hours until work is done and I can go pick the game up. Getting it on Wii U since I'm not buying a Switch now. Really excited. The feeling of a new Zelda is always great.

Seeing you all happy is killing me.
But I'm the one that made the thread.
Why do I do this to myself?
Why do I keep complaining?

Feel free to let it all out here, inquisitor. The more you yearn for it, the better it will feel once you get the game.

This game is....Incredible. it's a slam dunk 10/10 masterpiece, no question. I've never seen an open world game incorporate physics in such a believable and complex way. The gameplay is addictive and the environments are gorgeous. I've had a few small drops but they were only on the great plateau (the tutorial area). I can't get enough of this game and I'm having a blast. And like I've said before, the Monolith influence came through big time in this game. I dont want to spoil anything story wise, but it's been phenomenal so far. Just got to Kakariko village, and it's drop dead gorgeous.
TL:DR: the game is like playing through the world of Princess Mononoke

So I was looking at the negative user reviews on Metacritic for the laughs. And I saw "Zelda's eyebrows are too manly". I got the laugh I was looking for

I've only played for a bit and honestly I'm not that impressed yet, a new control scheme is really needed.

So as I tend to do with open games like this, I wait for the game to tell me where to go and then I go the opposite way. Let's just say that so far I have already run into multiple occasions where Uncontrollable or You Will Know Our Names would be incredibly fitting for the situation.

I'm blown away at how this Zelda is not afraid of killing the player. I've died about 10 times so far messing with enemies I probably shouldn't be at this point. Zelda games have always been fairly easy when it comes to enemy encounters but this one doesn't hold back at all. I'm legitimately surprised by how much damage some enemies can do and it really forces you to think about how you're going to fight them instead of just rushing in and swinging your weapon. And the game lets you be incredibly resourceful so you can literally outsmart your enemies. And like Xenoblade, they don't punish you harshly for dying so I don't feel discouraged when I mess up. Man... this game!
